The 2025 SESAC Latina Music Awards took place on May 28th at the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. This year's award ceremony recognized and celebrated the achievements of various Latin composers, singer-songwriters, and publishers for their contributions to the Latin music industry. Every annual SESAC Latina Awards ceremony brings its own unique set of special guests and winners, but this year’s lineup featured some of the greatest names in Latin music.
This year’s Songwriter of the Year award was won by none other than Lenny Tavárez in the Pop/Latin Rhythm category. Lenny is a talent not only on stage and behind the microphone but also behind the pen, with songwriting credits on the hit song “Bichota” by Karol G. He also contributed vocals to “Coco Loco” by Colombian superstar Maluma. All of these songs reached number one on various Billboard charts. Another notable winner at the 2025 SESAC Latina Awards was Alex Hernandez, who took home Songwriter of the Year for the Regional Mexican category. Alex’s contributions to songs like Xavi’s “La Diabla,” Grupo Frontera’s “Hecha Pa’ Mí,” and Julión Álvarez’s “Buscándole a La Suerte” earned him this honored award of the night. These incredible hit songs are backed by full teams of creatives, which is why awards like the SESAC Latina Awards are so important—to shine a spotlight on the contributors behind the music we love. Hits like Anitta’s “BELLAKEO,” featuring Peso Pluma, also had their moment, winning Song of the Year thanks to Ángel Sandoval’s songwriting credit on the major hit.
Another standout of the night was Salvador Aponte, whose name has been behind countless chart-topping hits in the Regional Mexican scene for over a decade. His recent work on “Voy A Levantarme” by Banda Los Sebastianes and “Flores” by Xavi proved once again why his pen remains one of the strongest in the game. Alongside him was Gussy Lau, a veteran in the industry whose work with Angela Aguilar and Grupo Frontera earned him further recognition this year. It’s artists like Salvador and Gussy whose consistency and vision elevate not just their own careers but also the sound and storytelling of Latin music as a whole.
Legacy and innovation also collided this year with the presence of names like Luciano Luna, who was honored with a special SESAC Legacy Award celebrating his decorated career, which includes three Latin Grammys and hits with Los Tigres del Norte and Chiquis. Meanwhile, fresh energy came through talents like Alex Coppel and Alfaro Aylín, both of whom have found major success blending traditional and modern sounds across collaborations with Kenia OS, La Maquinaria Norteña, and more. These moments during the SESAC Latina Awards highlight the range of artistry happening in the Latin world right now—from the timeless veterans to the boundary-pushing newcomers.
The 2025 SESAC Latina Music Awards did not disappoint, as the elegance and prestige of the ceremony were well represented throughout the night. The honorees each had their moment in the spotlight, with their work recognized by the press, media, and all attendees. Songwriters, producers, and composers may not always get the recognition they deserve, but they’re at the forefront of creating the music we love today. This year’s SESAC Awards were thoughtfully organized and full of memorable moments—and we can’t wait to see what next year’s celebration will bring.
