During Baja Beach Fest 2025, The Receipt Magazine sat down for an exclusive interview with rising Regional Mexican artist Armenta. Known for his powerful songwriting, Armenta first made his mark in the industry by penning records for major artists such as Fuerza Regida, Peso Pluma, Tito Double P, Calle 24, and many more. His ability to craft stories and melodies quickly positioned him as one of the most sought-after writers within the genre.
After years of success behind the scenes, Armenta has officially stepped into the spotlight with the release of his debut solo album, PORTATE BIEN—a project that introduces a bold new era of his career. The album not only highlights Armenta’s exceptional songwriting abilities, but also showcases his artistic vision, musical production, and deep passion for the craft. PORTATE BIEN is a personal statement, marking his evolution from respected songwriter to fully realized solo artist.
Amid the high-energy chaos of Baja Beach Fest 2025, Armenta took a moment to speak with The Receipt Magazine in an intimate and unexpected setting—while getting a haircut and walking the festival grounds in preparation for his surprise performance. Even in motion, and surrounded by one of the largest Latin music festivals in the world, Armenta remained grounded, reflective, and focused, embodying the confidence of an artist stepping into his moment.
The following interview was translated from Spanish to English for reader accessibility. Responses were transcribed to preserve clarity while maintaining the original intent and voice of the artist. The Following interview below was translated from Spanish to english for reader purposes and wording was transcribed to make the most sense in english translation. Interviewer: How did you start your career? Were you always a singer songwriter or did you begin as a musician or as a singer or how?
Armenta: I started making music at 12 years old for church and at 12 years old I wrote my first song when I was in love in elementary school. And from there I had the opportunity later to write for someone else and then further down the line I was able to write a song for Fuerza Regida in 2021, that launched everything.
Interviewer: How does it feel to not only make collaborations with artists from regional Mexican music? We know you have notable collaborations with Latin artists such as Manuel Turizo, does it feel any different?
Armenta: Yes the vibe is different from genres because they’re like super heroes but each one of them have their super powers. You’re always learning but personally I love learning from different genre artists and it is different from regional Mexican to urban and I feel like I keep learning from genres and sharing ideas and tips.
Interviewer: When in your career did you tell yourself, ok it is finally time that I create my own project as a solo artist?
Armenta: I decided to become this solo artist and composer last year, I always recorded music for myself but after a while it was no longer one or two songs it became 10 songs then 15 then 20 and I told myself ok I have to do something with these songs I can’t just waste them. And that’s when I think “PORTATE BIEN” was born.
Interviewer: At times in your career did you ever feel limited or defined as a songwriter only? People like myself we look at you like a super star and you have an incredible song catalog and are a musician of many instruments.
Armenta: Yes at times I did feel a bit not limited but a bit anxious, when you’re a songwriter you already know what your role is and you can’t become a star over night and I live by that, by working hard and making a name for yourself. And I was always willing to learn and grow from the start and in my case I was there when regional Mexican music was on its quick rise. I was there as part of the huge shift in the genre. I participated as a songwriter but it wasn’t my moment yet to be a solo artist but now it is.
Interviewer: How was this project born and why did this project become what it is?
Armenta: To be honest this is the most important project of my career at the moment. This project is me, it’s my music, my lyrics, my good times with friends and my sound. It’s incredibly special for me and it’s literally built off all of my friends. All the engineers, producers, collaborations, everything is built by and with my friends on this project. That was my intention to create something authentic but real because I don’t live a fake life. I wrote about real things that I experience in life on this album such as love, partying, friends, good times and bad times. Being authentic and having a real narrative was very important to me.
Interviewer: Last night you performed here with Tito Double P at Baja Beach Fest and earlier in the year you had your own set at ARRE Music Festival, and then you were on tour with Peso Pluma. Is a tour and more live shows in your future plans?
Armenta: The plans are for next year to begin a tour in the US and Mexico if God allows it. I’m ready for the world to hear my music and I’m ready to play it for them.
Interviewer: Can you give us a final message for your fans about this album and some news you have for them?
Armenta: Whoever listens to this album I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy it and listen to every lyric and listen to every beat because everything was done intentionally. It’s a beautiful project that I hope you can carry with you for the rest of your life.
Armenta's newest solo album, PORTATE BIEN, is available on all streaming platforms.
