This weekend, Nike quite literally took over the LA Bridge as they hosted Toma La Noche Under the Bridge with LA’s best street soccer players and teams. Nike’s exclusive event was entirely curated by Paisa Boys, a street soccer brand that has had a cultural impact not only on the sport but also on the fashion and branding surrounding it. As we head closer to Nike’s annual final match, hosted with many of soccer’s top athletes and music’s biggest artists, the qualification and road to the final match is just as exciting, watching everyone try to book that final spot on the biggest stage.
Last year, we had the privilege of attending the finals, which was a true night of soccer history, but this year we’re now able to cover the buildup to that final and see what all these teams and players fight for behind the scenes before the major kickoff takes place. Nike and Paisa Boys not only brought the community together, but they were also able to blend the beauty of the game, from the gameplay down to the fashion seen on the kits and merch. The activations were endless, featuring food trucks, mini bars, Nike trucks, and of course a massive indoor soccer field set right under the LA Bridge overlooking it all. As every fan screamed and every ball was kicked, you could hear the roaring street cars racing through the bridge, capturing the true soundtrack of Los Angeles.
Toma La Noche Under the Bridge was a huge success, and the impact it had on the surrounding community and soccer fans felt like a dream come true. With live performances from Mexican star Chino Pacas and high-level competitive street football being played, Los Angeles showed up and they were loud. Fans stormed the entire space, from the cage to the court, and some even sat along the bridge with a full overhead view of the action beneath their feet.
We can’t wait to see what Nike and the Paisa Boys have next for the street soccer community of Los Angeles, and if anyone knows, it’s us, we know that this collaboration only continues to push the culture forward, growing the game while building a deeper connection between fans, fashion, and the beautiful game.
